A Mother's Perspective on International Adoption
Cheri Register’s Are Those Kids Yours? (1990) was one of the first books written for parents about international adoption. In Beyond Good Intentions (2005) she looks back on her experience raising two daughters from Korea, and what she has learned from others as well. She has also written the award-winning Packing-House Daughter, a memoir of a working-class childhood and a famous meat-packers’ strike (excerpted in the Coles/Zandy anthology American Working-Class Literature), and The Chronic Illness Experience. A Ph. D in Scandinavian Literature, she currently teaches writing at Minneapolis’ center The Loft.
